With the start of the Premier League imminent, people up and down the country will be fine-tuning their fantasy football teams to ensure they get the optimum ‘ROI’.

While many HR departments worry that sporting competitions can unsettle office morale for the worse, new research by Peninsula has actually suggested the opposite.

62% of the 800 workers they surveyed said that fantasy football boosted their morale, and 49% found that it helped build relationships with colleagues.

Speaking to HR Grapevine, Alan Price, HR Director at Peninsula, said: “There are so many negative connotations held about fantasy football leagues, but when you actually look at the meaning behind the league, the positives quickly outweigh the negatives.
