With baby boomers, Gen X and Millennials now co-existing in the workplace, disparities over which workplace perks matter most show the different incentives behind the age groups.
Research from BrightHR suggests that the older generation is not interested in or motivated by rewards and perks which are non-monetary, but for younger employees they are highly valued.
75% of 16-25 year olds said they would work harder if they were offered more out of salary rewards and 79% say rewards would make them more loyal to their employer, compared with 57% and 50% of 55-60 year olds, respectively.
45% of 16-25 year olds receive out of salary rewards, compared to 22% of 55-60 year olds, and 20% of 55-60 year olds revealed that they weren’t bothered about workplace benefits outside of their salary.
