Ex-Citibank worker wipes out 90% of network access - 'They were firing me anyway'

A former Citibank employee has been sentenced to 21 months in jail after he was found to have issued commands to wipe the configuration files on ten core routers within Citibank's internal network - The Register reports. 

His actions shut down 90% of the company’s network access across North America.

In February of this year, Lennon Ray Brown admitted to having damaged a computer belonging to Citibank by transmitting a code and a command that erased configurations of core routers, according to SC Magazine.

At the sentencing, Brown read a statement explaining his motives and his decision to wipe the routers, stating: “They [were] firing me. I just beat them to it.
