Worker sent home for wearing shorts on hottest day of the year

The mini heatwave hitting Britain this week has given us a chance to dip into the narrow section of our wardrobes containing our summer collections.

Although most of us are celebrating about not having to wear a cardigan and baring our limbs to catch some vitamin D, one truck driver’s decision to wear shorts didn’t bode well.

Graeme Woods, a truck driver from Preston, was sent home by his manager – for wearing shorts on the hottest day of the year.

As temperatures climbed above 30C, Woods was refused permission to drive his truck and was sent home without pay - as his shorts went against ‘health and safety’ rules.
