HR policy will now have to take the vaping needs of staff into consideration.
New guidelines issued by Public Health England (PHE) have said that employees should have indoor ‘vaping rooms’ so that they can smoke without going outside – as it undermines their ability to quit smoking.
As well as this, firms should make it clear that vaping is not smoking.
The guidelines also say that staff who smoke e-cigarettes should also have extra breaks as vaping is more convenient and discourages the use of traditional cigarettes. Vapers also need “frequent interim top-ups.”
