Most recruiters prefer conducting interviews face-to-face, or at the very least on the phone, to get a feel for the candidate.
But one firm is eschewing this in favour of video interviews. They say that, contrary to what many recruiters think, it actually gives applicants the best platform to shine.
Cumming Corporation, a firm that helps manage construction projects, used video to cut down 633 applicants it received for internships this year to fill about 30 slots – Quartz reports.
The 248 who met the basic criteria then had to tape short videos. Scott Weaver, Director - Talent Acquisition & Development at Cumming Corporation, told Quartz it allows recruiters to screen twice as many applicants than if they had gone right to phone interviews.
