Overseas job searches double after Brexit vote

In the aftermath of the UK’s vote to leave the EU, searches for jobs outside the UK doubled within 48 hours.

Ireland was the top country UK jobseekers were searching for work in, as found by job site Indeed.

Marketing, HR, engineering, transport and retail were amongst the top searches for UK to Ireland job searches, with the hospitality and finance sectors being the most popular in the UK to other European countries job searches.

This trend was also seen in the Greek bailout referendum in 2015, where the number of Greek jobseekers looking for job opportunities outside of Greece doubled within days of the announcement of the EU’s proposed bailout package in July 2015.
