News anchor claims she was fired for being white

A fired news anchor has taken her former employee to court claiming she was racially discriminated against because she is white.

Wendy Bell, who anchored the news on WTAE TV in Pittsburgh for 17 years, was fired earlier this year over social media remarks that were deemed racially insensitive – Channel News Asia reports.

After a shooting that resulted in six deaths, Bell posted comments on Facebook.

"You needn't be a criminal profiler to draw a mental sketch of the killers who broke so many hearts. They are young black men, likely in their teens or in their early 20s," she wrote.
