No job roles, unlimited leave and fair shares - the new way to work?

Treating staff like children and controlling their every move is often considered a thing of the past but, with many companies still implementing policies that control and restrain, it appears the concept is not as outdated as it seems.

Jenny Biggam, Owner of media agency the7stars, refuses to do this – and has structured her HR and general company policies to reflect this - Stylist reports.

“At my company we are short on rules and long on treating our staff as adults,” she says.

“We’re not a grow-your-own co-operative, we are a multi-million-pound media planning and buying agency handling clients’ high profile TV, radio, print and digital campaigns. My Co-Founder Mark Jarvis and I had previously worked for companies with lots of emphasis on rules and not enough on being nice places to work. When we launched the7stars we asked: 'What if we flipped this model and built a great place to work with a lot fewer rules?'”
