A top executive at the BBC has claimed that women employees miss out on high-ranking jobs because they “don’t feel confident enough.”
Jonathan Munro, BBC’s Head of Newsgathering, has said that the broadcasting company is struggling to recruit female staff – despite offering flexible working and hours, according to the Daily Mail.
The Telegraph reports that Munro has claimed that male executives have been guilty of implementing “unconscious bias” when hiring male employees.
He explained: “Appointments we made over the years were people hiring in the image of themselves. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.
