Celebrations – and commiserations - surrounding the European Championships are expected to be ongoing for the next month, but the knock-on effects are expected to produce more than just a few sore heads.

Research from Kronos revealed that over a third of employees expected the football tournament to cause increased absenteeism; more than Wimbledon (18%) and the Rio Olympics (11%) combined.

This absenteeism will present issues for HR - according to Neil Pickering, Industry and Customer Insight Manager at Kronos.

“This summer’s sporting events will pose a real challenge to the ways in which organisations handle absenteeism,” he says.
