I’m a bit of a film buff, so naturally I liken films to my work.
The Social Network (which Mark Zuckerberg notes that, in terms of real-life accuracy, “got his sweatshirts and hoodies spot on”) could almost be a CIPD toolkit for working relationships. It really has little to do with technology at all and uses screen tempo to lead the viewer through the main themes.
Cinematically, social networking and interpersonal relationships are clearly worlds apart and this film starts the rather haunting debate around what is reality.
So what’s really important; ‘you’, or ‘digital you’.
