From Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes to Patricia Arquette’s victory speech at the 2015 Oscars; the issue of the gender pay gap, sexism and diversity has been highlighted multiple times in Hollywood.
Some firms, such as JJ Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions, have implemented diversity quotas, while other actors, such as Sienna Miller, have dropped out of a project all together after being offered less pay than a male lead.
Speaking at the Rockefeller Foundation event, Robin Wright revealed her fight for the same pay as co-star Kevin Spacey in the Netflix-only show House of Cards.
“I was like, ‘I want to be paid the same as Kevin’,” she said. Wright also produces and directs on the show.
