ANZ implements 'paw-ternity leave' for new pet parents

Pet parents are rejoicing, with news that the arrival of their pets could soon garner the same leave scheme as those preparing for the birth of a child. 

One in 20 new pet owners are now offered ‘paw-ternity leave', with southern hemisphere bank ANZ the latest company to embrace the trend – The Daily Mail reports.

While each workplace assesses on a case-by-case basis, some employees have been able to take several weeks to settle their pet into a new environment.

“Anyone can request flexibility for any reason, including ‘paw-ternity leave',” an ANZ spokesperson told the New Zealand Herald.
