McDonald's employee pens inspiring retort to 'dead-end job' perceptions

A McDonald’s member of staff has taken to Facebook to respond to those who perceive his position as “dead-end”.

Mike Waite, who is employed in an Edinburgh branch, said he will soon be venturing into higher education and thanked them for allowing him the opportunity to save up for higher education.

The fast food restaurant chain was recently listed as one of the UK’s best places to work, with emails to The Lad Bible last year detailing the joys of working there. Waite’s letter only cements this evidence, showing that he is aware of the difficulties of the job but committed nonetheless.   

He also praised the quality of his co-workers: “In the past I have known and worked with very rich folks in very high-end jobs, and a few of them could never match the resilience and work ethic of some of the current lads [and] lassies.”
