The temporary receptionist who was sent home for refusing to wear a pair of heels has since launched a petition calling for a ban on the “outdated” practice.
Nicola Thorp was sent home from PwC’s offices by outsourcing firm Portico, after they told her she would have to wear shoes with a “2 inch to 4 inch heel”.
Portico has since amended their policy, saying “with immediate effect all our female colleagues can wear plain flat shoes”.
Thorp set up a petition earlier this week, which will now be considered for debate in Parliament, after reaching more than 100,000 signatures.
