Should we ban work emails outside of the office?

We are all guilty of it – scrolling through our office emails long after we’ve left the office and our work day has technically ended.

But how much damage are we actually causing?

According to President Francois Hollande of France, constantly checking our work inbox is causing employees to suffer severe digital burnouts. His Socialist Party is about to vote through a measure that will give all staff the “right to disconnect”, urging them to switch off when they leave the office.

Companies with more than 50 workers will have to draw up a charter of good conduct, defining clear hours when staff should not send or answer emails, according to the BBC.
