BBC's 'BAME only' job ad sparks controversy

A row over a job ad asking for BBC interns of only black, Asian and non-white ethnic backgrounds has sparked debate, with the BBC recruiter who posted the ad defending the program.

Creative Access offers a range of paid internships at media organisations but clearly states that "all roles advertised through Creative Access are only open to UK nationals from a black, Asian or non-white ethnic minority” – the Express reports.

Creative Access’ mission statement online says: "Creative Access was founded in 2012 to provide opportunities for paid internships in the creative industries for young people of graduate (or equivalent standard) from under-represented black, Asian and other non-white minority ethnic backgrounds (BAME)."

Website organiser Michael Foster spoke on radio station LBC with Katie Hopkins, who took offence to the job ad.
