Morrisons worker's triumph of employee engagement championed in viral post

A Morrisons worker who went the extra mile for a blind and autistic child has been praised online by her mother Amanda.

The employee, who has been identified as Lin, helped Amanda calm down her blind and autistic daughter Holly when she went into “meltdown” at the checkouts.

Lin bought her behind the till and distracted her by letting her complete the scanning of the shop. Subsequently, Amanda eulogised her efforts in a Facebook post.

Lin demonstrated a sound understanding of a care company culture and intervened in a manner that that did not bring further distress to mother or daughter. Speaking to HR Grapevine earlier this year, Steve Woolley, Head of External Affairs at the Chartered Institute of Marketing, discussed how a company’s values should be demonstrated throughout the organisation.
