Consolidated Edison (Con Ed) has withdrawn an offer for a staff investigator position, after finding a bare-breasted image on the candidate's Instagram page.
Samantha Chirichella was expecting to start work in Con Ed's Legal Services department and earn a salary of $70,000 a year, (£48,000) but the offer was revoked after a background check found a picture of her baring her chest for an art exhibit.
The image, taken three years ago features her and another woman both bare-breasted.
Chirichella, from Long Island, said in papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court that the picture was taken by her photographer friend and was displayed in a gallery as part of an art show.
