Managers are showing signs of self-doubt as leaders, with only 14% describing themselves as ‘visionary’, and just nine per cent considering themselves ‘authoritative’.
Only 40% of managers “slightly agree” that their direct reportees know what is expected from them, according to research by Penna.
In addition, the study found that only 23% of managers coach new employees on the team, with 14% of managers believing they were a better coach than previous instructors.
It seems that their employees agree, with under half (45%) of the employees questioned describing their manager as an “excellent team leader”.
