Marissa Mayer could receive £41m payout regardless of performance

All of Yahoo’s woes seem to be blamed on CEO Marissa Mayer, but despite this she could still receive a payout of £41million if she’s dismissed after a buyout, The Guardian reports.

The payout figure is based on the terms of the company’s most recent proxy statement.

Mayer, who was originally the twentieth employee at Google, has earned £54million since taking over as Yahoo CEO in 2012, according to stock analytics firm MSCI. Her pay cheque for this year is yet to be finalised, but it is anticipated that she will receive more than her base salary which is in excess of £1.4million.

Despite the problems that plague the company, the share price is still better than when she joined ($18.81 compared to $38.47 in 2014, when Yahoo released their last proxy statement). This is due to the Yahoo’s holding in Alibaba, China’s largest e-commerce company.
