Zara employee claims HR racially discriminated against her

An employee at global retailer Zara has stated that she is considering filing a human rights complaint after she claims HR racially discriminated against her.   

Cree Ballah, from Scarborough, Toronto, explained to CityNews that she felt victimised, after the store’s HR Manager pulled her aside on her second day of work and asked her to remove her hair braids.

Ballah told CityNews: “She said ‘your hair is too extreme for the Zara store. Please take it down’.”

The HR representative then reportedly made the worker try out a number of different hairstyles until she was satisfied with the look. Ballah claimed she felt “embarrassed and humiliated” being examined in plain view of customers and fellow employees.
