Air France finds solution to Muslim dress code row

Following the news that female Air France staff could potentially strike if they are forced to wear head scarves when flying into Tehran, the aviation firm has found a resolution.

Female crew members will now have the option to opt out of flights to the Iranian capital, which resume 17 April  after a suspension in 2008.

Gilles Gateau, Air France’s HR Director, spoke to Europe 1 channel ahead of a meeting with unions yesterday. “[We have] heard from a number of women, be they air hostesses or pilots, who said following this rule would be a problem for them,” he said.

"We're going to present them with an opt-out clause for any female employee affected on the Paris-Tehran route. If, for personal reasons, they don't want to wear the headscarf when they leave the plane, they would be reassigned to another destination."
