'Old boys network' prevents women entering the Boardroom

The archaic system which relies on personal networks and “contacts” to fill new roles and proffer promotions is holding women back, according to a new report.

“Old boys’ networks” have been singled out by the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) as major factors as to why there are less women in the Boardroom.

Laura Carstensen, Equality and Human Rights Commissioner, told the Daily Mail: “Despite welcome progress and vital work by Lord Davies, our top boards still remain blatantly male and white, with inexcusable and unacceptable discrepancies between companies.

“The good work of a forward thinking minority masks that many top businesses are still only paying lip service to improving the representation of women on boards.”
