Sir Martin Sorrell, CEO of WPP, has received a pay cheque worth over £60million, one the largest remunerations ever received by a FTSE 100 Chief Executive.
The payment is the second largest ever made to a FTSE 100 CEO, exceeded only by Bart Becht’s pay-out of £92million in shares and cash given to him in 2009. The sum comprises of a £1.15million salary and other perks, taking his total pay for 2015 to more than £65million.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Stefan Stern, Director of the High Pay Centre, revealed that not everyone was happy with the “excessive” pay.
“He clearly is a remarkable business leader, the company has done terrifically well,” he commented.
