'Companies are stupid… Talent is leaving all the time'

The ‘workforce conundrum’ has many facets and no easy solutions.

When asked if the UK is producing an ‘hourglass workforce’ at Ceridian’s 20^th annual conference, Wayne Clarke, Founding Partner at The Global Growth Institute, said: “Companies are stupid… talent is leaving all the time.”

No solution was forthcoming, but he also said that “some businesses just don't get [gender diversity]", as well as revealing that Glassdoor is equipping the younger workers like nothing else before it.

Cathy Lewis, Prudential’s HR Director, lamented the lack of progress on this issue: “Why haven't we solved [gender diversity] as a society? What is the blockage? What is stopping it? We haven't solved this."
