Business leaders fly the flag for employee empowerment

SME business leaders should make the empowerment of staff a priority in order to drive innovation, according to a new survey from Standard Life.

The pensions and insurance company revealed that employees and executives at SMEs believe that empowering the workforce should be the number one priority for business leaders.

“Business leaders should always take notice of the views of their employees, particularly when they express ways in which they can better support the growth of the company,” Stephen Ingledew, Managing Director of Marketing at Standard Life, tells Executive Grapevine.

“Employees are frequently asking for greater responsibility, so it is crucial for leaders to take their people with them on the journey. Empowerment is key to making them active agents of the business’ success and can be a key means of future-proofing the business.”
