A new study has revealed the most damaging comments employees can make at work, with profanities, taboo topics and gossip amongst the worst.
The research from corporate training and organisational performance innovators VitalSmarts shows how a few words can cause ongoing effects in the workplace, with 83% of respondents reporting to have witnessed a colleague make a comment which has affected their career.
69% of respondents admitted to making a career-threatening comment themselves.
Jane Hodgson, Management Development Trainer at Grahame Robb Associates, the UK and Republic of Ireland licensee for VitalSmart, told HR Grapevine that the study shows the importance of striking a balance in the workplace.
