Is there enough workplace education for new starters to overcome digital illiteracy?
In February Capgemini released research showing 47% of senior decision makers think that although young people are digitally savvy, they don’t know how to use their digital skills for work purposes. What we saw, therefore, is that there is still a skills gap and that’s because the skills we need are changing so rapidly. We have got a level of responsibility as employers to ensure we fill that gap, the education system can’t do everything for us, so we need to make sure we are aware of what these gaps are and do what we can to bridge it. I think some of that will come from our schools engagement platform, and some of that will come from the ability to provide the right skills for our people at the right level, when they join the organisation.
