The recruiting world has been rife with discriminatory job adverts recently.
The Garage, a creative firm based in London, recently put out a job advert which stated all candidates must have dyslexia in order to apply, while another by BuzzFeed which said applicants shouldn’t be “white [or] male” led to the person in question deleting her Twitter account.
Speaking to Executive Grapevine, Rachael Saunders, Age at Work Director at Business in the Community, discussed how to ‘equality-proof hiring procedures.
“Last week, the Equality and Human Rights Commission reported thousands of people could be at risk of being denied jobs and services due to unlawful, discriminatory adverts. These advertisements fuel negative perceptions and ultimately mean employers risk losing out on talent that could benefit their business.
