Mass recruitment drives pose sizable problems for HR professionals, with sourcing large numbers of potential employees just the first in a series of logistical hurdles.

The Palace Hotel in Manchester recently began recruiting 121 new employees to mark their 121^st birthday, with Tim Rawson, Director of HR, telling HR Grapevine about their wide-reaching and inclusive system of hiring.

“Manchester has lots of candidates, which is not always the case that you have enough candidates,” Rawson said.

“The hurdle then is you have a huge volume of applicants, so filtering those requires some imagination.”
