Company to implement 'period leave' in attempt to improve productivity

A Bristol-based firm is going to introduce a “period policy” to allow female members of staff to work flexibly around their menstrual cycle.  

These plans are believed to be a first in the UK, although it is already in place in Japan, parts of China, South Korea and Taiwan, the BBC reports.

Coexist employs 17 females and seven males. Bex Baxter, Director at the community and arts centre, said she wanted to “create a happier and healthier working environment” by allowing female employees to work flexibly around their menstrual cycle.

Baxter said to The Bristol Post: “As a manager of staff I have seen women really suffer with their periods and I have found them doubled over in a lot of pain.
