The stigma around flexible working will slowly dissolve as the new generation embeds itself into the working world.
Speaking to HR Grapevine, Sarah-Jane Butler, Founder of Parental Choice, said, one of the reasons she set up the company was because her previous career as a lawyer wasn’t conducive to a healthy work-life balance.
She recalls what a female Partner said to her: “’You’ll have to get a day nanny, a night nanny and a crèche at weekends’. That is unfortunately still the prevalent attitude in professional services to mothers who still want a career.”
Her company helps organisations to support their working parents get back to work by sourcing the right childcare to suit their working and family lives. She says she is often asked for childcare to fit around flexible working requests because family is seen to them as equally important to work.
