Businesses need to tackle diversity before their workforce has left school.
Speaking to HR Grapevine, Ann Pickering, HR Director at O2, discussed why businesses should visit schools and get involved with the community to tackle this issue. She was speaking about O2’s new research which found that 28% of young people believed that men are best suited to being Prime Minister.
It also found that over half of four to ten year-olds think girls are better suited than boys to jobs such as nursing, and 47% of 11- to 18-year-olds think the tech sector is more suitable for men.
“I think we have got to start talking as a society,” she said, “And start talking to young people in a primary schools.
