Workers at Amazon are set to unionise over working conditions and a HR function that leaves them “afraid.”
A website called The Former And Current Employees (FACE) of Amazon, says that the New York Times’ horrific exposé on company culture led to a “groundswell of top performing employees revealing their mistreatment at the hands of unethical managers who are empowered by Amazon executives and HR without sufficient checks and balances to protect their staff from abuse.”
It goes on to say, in a post titled An Open Letter to Jeff Bezos, that unless the issues with company culture are fixed, they will “initiate a labour movement to regain our rights through unionisation as was necessary for generations of mistreated employees before us.”
Upon the release of the New York Times’ exposé, Jeff Bezos, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Amazon, promised to remedy the situation alongside HR.
