France set to pass law that gives employees 'right to disconnect' from work

French workers are set to have the “right to disconnect” from work emails outside of their contracted hours, The Local reports.

The French Labour Ministry is currently finalising the details of this law and others. French Labour Minister Myriam El Khomri will present the laws in the upcoming weeks.

The law will make it illegal for staff to respond to work correspondence out of working hours, and companies must ensure that their employees come under no pressure to look at work-related emails or documents on their devices, The Daily Mail reports.

The move will signal a serious statement of intent towards French attitudes on work-life balance.
