Airlines share over £500million with employees

Following record profits in 2015, two airlines have shared over £500million with their employees.

Southwest Airlines is has shared $620million (£434million) through its profit sharing scheme with the staff. The pay-outs correspond to 15.6% of the average employee’s salary, or eight weeks pay.

Gary Kelly is the Chairman, President and CEO at Southwest Airlines. He said: “Behind every milestone Southwest Airlines has celebrated – and there have been many – our employees are the driving force. I’m incredibly proud of the teamwork and heart behind every accomplishment.

“Our people have built one of the world’s most admired companies and they share in Southwest’s success with this third consecutive record-breaking profit-sharing contribution.”
