Monarch's Chief People Officer, Pauline Prow, says

Managers need to understand what HR's role is within the business, according to Monarch's Chief People Officer. 

Speaking to HR Grapevine, Pauline Prow says: "There's a lot of managers that still feel it's HR's job to manage the disciplinaries, grievances and all of the tricky little people issues that they don't want to deal with. 

"But actually we need to say: No, that's not our job. Of course we're here to help you, but they are your people, they are delivering results for you and you know them best. It’s your responsibility to motivate and engage them and manage performance issues when needed.” 

She goes on to explain what HR is there to do: "We're here to enable them, upskill them and support them. HR is not a welfare department, it is an enabling department. It enables the business to perform through managing and motivating its employees."
