Prime Minister David Cameron changes “first sift” of recruitment process

Prime Minister David Cameron has outlined changes to the recruitment process, stating that candidates who have served time in jail will not have to put their convictions on their CV.

These changes will apply to the civil service. It is hoped that other organisations will make similar moves in the future.

In a speech at the Policy Exchange think tank, Cameron said: “There's a simple problem: today, ex-offenders are often rejected for jobs out right because of their past.

“[I want] to build a country where the shame of having a prior conviction does not necessarily hold people back from working and providing for their families."
