How to successfully de-motivate employees, according to Lenovo's Head of Talent Development EMEA, Maxim Strashun

There are 13 key ways to demotivate employees according to Lenovo’s Head of Talent Development EMEA.

Speaking at the HR Directors Business Summit in Birmingham last week, Maxim Strashun stated that too many managers focus on how to motivate their staff, but don’t consider what it is they are doing that is demotivating them.

Strashun’s top 13 de-motivators are:

1. Nothing works 

When an employee starts their new role at your company and they don’t have access to a working computer, their ID card doesn’t swipe or  even not being shown where the nearest toilet is!

2. What’s expected? 

New and existing staff need clear KPIs and job descriptions so that they know what exactly is expected of them in their role, says Strashun.

3. Not part of the team 

Strashun believes that new employees that don't feel ‘part of the team’ shouldn't be told “it will come in time” or that it is their fault, they should be helped.
