Google CEO makes more in 1 day than firms 10-year tax bill

Sundar Pichai has only been the CEO of Google since October, but he may already be the best-paid business leader in the US.

A company filing has revealed that Pichai has received $199million (£138million) worth of shares in Google’s new parent company Alphabet, the Independent reports.

With this pay-out, the search engine CEO has made more in a day than the £130 million the company has agreed to pay the UK Treasury in back taxes since 2005 last month.

At the time, Chancellor George Osborne championed the deal as a “major success”.
