Monsoon of candidates highlights value of using recruitment consultancies

A CeX store in Weston Favell Shopping Centre, Northampton, was inundated with applicants after posting a quartet of job opportunities, the Northampton Chronicle & Echo (NC&E) reports.

The positon was full-time Sales Advisor, with hourly wages ranging between £3.87 and £6.70 an hour, depending on the age of the successful applicants. A “small bonus” was also available, depending on sales.

As a result of the vast quantity of jobseekers that turned up to the evening, management has now had to work through 109 applications. If they’d utilised a recruitment firm, this time could have been saved, with management focusing on other business matters.

Mark Jones, Franchisee of CeX Weston Favell Shopping Centre, said to the NC&E: “I was astonished, I know people love the brand, but I expected about 20 to 30 people to turn up and I thought that would have been good.
