Former Yahoo executive accuses company of anti-male gender bias

A former Yahoo Commercial Editor has accused his previous employer of firing him due to gender-bias favouring women. Gregory Anderson was let go from his role in November 2014.

He has now filed a lawsuit at a Californian court. The lawsuit, seen by the Silicon Valley Business Journal, stated that Marissa Mayer introduced quarterly performance reviews (QPRs) soon after she took on the role of CEO at Yahoo. Anderson claimed that these reviews were opaque and that the staff did not know who assessed them. Additionally, he accused Yahoo of using the reviews to rank workers against one another.

The lawsuit stated: “Employees did not know who was making the final decisions.

“This manipulation of the QPR process permitted employment decisions, including terminations, to be made on the basis of personal biases and stereotyping.”
