Yahoo denies claims Marissa Mayer 'accidentally fired' employees

Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has reportedly fired a number of employees by accident, according to the New York Post (NYP).

A spokesperson for the company has declared the story false, calling the allegations a rumour and adding that there is “zero truth to it.” However, the publication reports that inside sources told NYP journalist James Covert that due to an administrative mix-up, staff who were never meant to be shortlisted for dismissal were informed that they had been fired.

The inside source told the newspaper: “They put people on firing lists who they didn’t mean to — people who were lower on the performance scale but who weren’t meant to get fired. But no one told the managers.”

The miscommunication error affected up to 30 Yahoo workers, according to the inside source. The NYP explained the situation, writing: “The screw-ups , which may have affected as many as 30 employees, according to one source, didn’t go over well with some team supervisors.
