A Chief Executive recently explained the trials and tribulations of being a successful business woman in a world dominated by men.
Aimee Kandrac, Founder and CEO of WhatFriendsDo.com, a charity-based helping initiative, has revealed some of the most sexist and derogatory remarks she has received during her career.
In an interview with Fortune magazine, Kendrac explains how being a woman in her industry meant that she had to overcome many more hurdles than her male counterparts. In the interview Kandrac cites a 2015 survey by Social Capital which notes that 92% of senior investment teams at top venture capital firms are male.
Kendrac explained: “When I set out to fund WhatFriendsDo, I should not have been shocked when I was asked if I thought there was money to be made in helping people take food to a sick friend. Male VCs were often unable to relate to my business solution because many of them had not been in charge of taking meals to a friend-in-need.”
