Company sends staff on blind dates with each other

One company has developed a rather unorthodox way to improve staff morale and boost inter-office relationships.  

FreshBooks is a Toronto-based accounting firm that encourages its employees to go on blind dates with one another.

Mary Grace Antonio is a Manager at the Canadian company, as well as the mastermind behind the scheme. She told CBS News: “I like to meet everyone that shows up. And as the company grew, I noticed that more and more people just didn’t know each other’s names anymore, which, for me, I thought that was crazy because I love this really tight-knit community that we build at FreshBooks, and I wanted to keep that up.”

Antonio explained that she came up with the idea of arranging blind dates amongst her co-workers last summer.
