Halfords managers to take £2m pay cut following disappointing sales

Following poor summer sales and a warm winter, managers and head office staff at Halfords will lower their salaries by £2million.

Jill McDonald, CEO at the automotive repair and maintenance chain, told The Guardian: “All businesses are affected by the weather and we are not unique in that.”

While sales rose by 0.4% in the 15 weeks leading up to 15th January 2016, the underlying sales of car kit - such as de-icer, ice scrapers and batteries - dropped following the warm winter months.

However, Halfords expects to meet profit targets despite the disappointing sales.
