Sheryl Sandberg, the Chief Operating Officer for Facebook, recently voiced her opinion on the male-dominated workforce.
During a session on the future of work at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Sanberg told the panel that she believed the gender bias in the technology sector had to change immediately. She explained: “At the risk of shocking everyone so early in the morning, men still run the world – and I’m not sure it’s going that well. It means we’re not using the full talent of the population.
“That means when it comes to making the decisions that impact our world women are not at those tables where decisions are made.”
The issue of sexism in the technology industry has received much attention of late. One female engineer started an online campaign, #ilooklikeanengineer, making a public stand against the world’s preconceived image of what people in her industry should look like.
