Meet the animals employed by the British Army…

Whether you love them or hate them, everyone agrees that having pets in the workplace would certainly make the working day much more interesting…

An audit has revealed that there are nine ‘publically’ funded animals in the British Army, who are all allowed the services of the Veterinary corps, as well as quarters and food courtesy of the British taxpayer.

Four have the rank of Lance Corporal – Shetland ponies Pegasus V and Cruachan IV (the Parachute regiment and the Royal Regiment of Scotland respectively); Swaledale Ram Derby XXX (who serves with the Mercian regiment); and Kashmiri goat Shenkin III (who serves with the 3rd Battalion The Royal Welsh).
